MC11 Mini Canvas Print Gerald Dawavendewa (Hopi & Cherokee) Sowi the Jack Rabbit with cloud symbols stands upon the crescent Moon as stars rise above the Earth behind. Rain clouds gather above the Earth, which holds signs of corn, rain, and a migration spiral representing the journeys of the Earth and Moon. For the Hopi people, Muuyaw the Moon is watched over by Sowi. The darker areas upon the Moon’s surface symbolize the Rabbit, while the lighter regions symbolize moisture. Muuyaw is a vessel filled with water, a symbol of prayers to the Earth. 6 inches square (15.24 cm square) Print uses fade and water-resistant ink. Print image wraps around the edges over a wood frame with a sawtooth hanger.  A clear resealable envelope with a hanging tab protects the print. Card on backside includes: • A description of the print. • A biography of the artist. • Information about the indigenous culture.
