Earth, protects all
Tourmaline comes from the Singhalese term "turamali", which translates as the stone of mixed colors. Tourmaline is often referred to as the rainbow gemstone. In Legend, Egyptians believed that tourmaline traveled from the earths' core to the surface along a rainbow which gave it all the various shades.
Something that we find interesting about Tourmaline, is that it is piezoelectric, which means it generates electricity under pressure, and pyroelectric, generating electricity with heat.
Black Tourmaline also know as Schorl, is one of the most common, and can be found in Sri Lanka, Brazil, Africa, USA, Australia, Afghanistan, Italy, Germany, and Madagascar. These stones are 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale of hardness. This particular tourmaline is high quality from the mines we work directly with in Brazi
