ORTHOCERAS & AMMONITE FOSSIL BOX
This unique box is crafted from black matrix stone and features fossilized Orthoceras and an Ammonite beautifully displayed on the lid.
Orthoceras were ancient, nautiloid creatures with long, straight shells that lived in the oceans during the Paleozoic Era, more than 400 million years ago. They are distant relatives of today’s squid, cuttlefish, and nautiluses. Depending on the species, they ranged from only a few inches to several feet in length.
Ammonites were prehistoric, squid-like marine creatures that lived in the world's oceans from approximately 240 to 65 million years ago. Their distinctive coiled shells provided buoyancy as they moved through the water. Like Orthoceras, ammonites varied greatly in size, with some species growing to several feet across.
Each fossil preserves a small piece of Earth's ancient history, making this box both a beautiful decorative object and a fascinating conversation piece.
